Four Cafe | Eagle Rock

By now, most people have heard the hype surrounding the northeastern LA neighborhood of Eagle Rock. If you have ever journeyed north pass the precinct lines of downtown LA, you may have stumbled upon this tucked away LA hub dubbed 2014’s Best Neighborhood in America. While basking in its new found popularity, Eagle Rock has more than just its title to be proud of. Coincidentally Eagle Rock is also home to some of the best small business eateries in the city, including our favorite Four Cafe.

For those that don’t know the area, Colorado Blvd. runs through the small town neighborhood and is literally the food highway of Eagle Rock. Visitors will find other The Squirrel Co. favorites, among the mix, Four Cafe. With a seasonal menu that’s always evolving, guests can be sure to get nothing but the freshest ingredients. Choose from an array of homemade organic items including salads, soups, small bites, sandwiches, sides, and desserts. Our favorite? The made-to-order Veggie burger decked with cheddar cheese, remoulade, red onion jam, arugula on a brioche bun, of course.

Bustling with locals during all hours of the day, Four Cafe has grown to be one of the best eateries on the block. Pay them a visit at their 2122 E. Colorado Blvd. location in Eagle Rock or visit their website for look.

With summer just around the corner, Los Angeles natives are gearing up for a season of outdoor fun, live entertainment, and of course great picnic foods! This year, be sure to head to the northeast LA neighborhood of Eagle Rock, where you’ll find the best in all picnic essentials. Milkfarm LA, a family-run cheese shop on Colorado Blvd., offers a diverse selection of artisan products including cheeses, meats, and olives– perfect for snacking during any summertime activity. This local cheese shop is the creation of six-year veteran and ex-pastry chef of The Cheese Store of Silverlake, Leah, who incorporates her love of locally grown ingredients into Milkfarm’s seasonal menu. As part of the menu, Milkfarm LA offers handcrafted artisan sandwiches (pictured above), local beers and wine pairings for all cheese and meat platters. Staying true to its mission of using only the best of locally grown products, Milkfarm LA has partnered up with Eagle Rock Farms to bring customers an authentic taste of its LA residency. So next time you plan on having some outdoor summer fun, be sure to stop by one of LA’s bests and hit up Milkfarm LA (website) at its 2106 W. Colorado Blvd. location in Eagle Rock.

The Oinkster

A small town eatery with a menu full of big flavor.

Tucked away in the charming up-and-coming hip neighborhood of Eagle Rock, is one of the best sandwich shops in Los Angeles. Known for being the king of all “slow fast food,” The Oinkster Restaurant delivers a premium American-classic menu that will satisfy anyone’s quench for quality grub. Found on the newly renovated restaurant row of Colorado Blvd. in this Los Angeles old town community, owner Andre Guerrero has created a prime dinning experience for your taste buds as well as your wallet. The “$10-and-under menu,” guarantees the establishment’s commitment to, “skip high prices in favor of better flavors”– a quality we here at The Squirrel Co. can definitely appreciate.

The menu features classic Americana staples, from Nebraska Angus beef burgers to The Oinkster’s prized pastrami sandwiches, each with their own modern culinary twist. Whether you’re in the mood for their Chicken and Brie Sandwich ($7.50) or the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich ($7), each dish is homemade and contains ingredients that are fresh and locally grown. But if that isn’t enough to convince you to visit the east-side establishment, The Oinkster also features a number of draft beers on tab from in and around Los Angeles as well as a happy hour menu that features both food and drinks.

For a not-so-typical L.A. dinning experience that is full of flavor, be sure to visit The Oinkster Restaurant at its Eagle Rock location at 2005 Colorado Blvd., Eagle Rock, CA 90042. More information also available on their website:
