Truly unique for an LA bar, 1642 is sure to be a dream come true for any bar enthusiast in town. With its deceiving facade and dark Parisian decor, 1642 delivers nothing short of a good time. Located in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, the 1642 is somewhat hidden from plain sight (something we’ve appreciated from day one) but once you’ve found the place, you’ll be wanting to come back night after night.
On the menu are a number of different beers and wines (reasonably priced, of course) and if you’re lucky, the charming staff will bring by a bowl of salted pretzels on the house. The Squirrel’s favorite beer? The refreshing White Rascal ($4)–a Belgium beer served straight out of the can.
Best part about it is their hours! 1642 is opened Tuesday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., with live music (usually jazz) playing on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. And although the location is small in size, you might be able to score a table for two and enjoy a romantic time out in the town with a special somebody. Cheers!
